What is a EMDR Intensive?

A EMDR Intensive is a condensed format of EMDR therapy. Healthy Minds Wellness Center offers a three hour EMDR Intensive over the span of three days (this can be adjusted for longer if client/therapist deem longer is need and at additional costs). A EMDR intensive is the same evidence-based therapy, concentrated. Instead of spreading processing across months of weekly 50-60 minute sessions, you do the equivalent work in days and with the momentum of continuity rather than the restart tax of weekly therapy.

Getting Started with a EMDR Intensive:

Consultation is required. Before scheduling your individual intensive, a 90 minute consultation is required to determine the best approach for your goals. This ensures the intensive is a good fit and allow for planning a mutually agreed upon course that will be beneficial for you. This consultation is typically one to two weeks before the intensive itself with a comprehensive clinical history taking, identify any traumatic material or need for resourcing and memory networks most relevant to your presenting concerns, assess your stability and develop a detailed treatment plan.

Can I do an EMDR intensive if I haven’t done EMDR before?

Yes, though the consultation assessment and preparation work is particularly important for clients who are new to EMDR. It is HIGHLY recommended to have a established primary therapist before starting a EMDR intensive for the purpose of reattachment after the EMDR Intensive. In short, it is an important aspect of continuity of care to ensure you are supported after the intensive to process your experience in a safe and supportive space.

Do I need to pay for my EMDR Intensive in total before booking my session?

No, a initial deposit of 50% will be required to book your EMDR Intensive. The remainder of the total due will be charged at the end of your third day of your EMDR Intensive.
